How is the EU Common Fisheries Policy Landing Obligation affecting the local fishers of Shetland? How will it change with Brexit?
I am researching how the EU CFP Landings Obligation is affecting the fishers of Shetland; building an ecosystem model of northern North Sea; meanwhile determining how these affects will change with Brexit.
Brexit negotiations could have huge implications for British fisheries. A move away from EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) could present positive opportunities for Scottish fisheries to establish more effective and reactive fisheries management systems and manage sustainable stocks alongside economic growth. It is therefore imperative to understand the current factors effecting fish stocks and model how these factors will influence future stocks. The results can then be used as a basis to inform and advise government on the best course of action to take on quotas and the avoidance of choke species.
