Our team develops models that predict dispersal of particulate and dissolved matter in the marine environment, using primarily FVCOM and New DEPOMOD.

We supply predictions of deposition and impacts to support applied science and modelling under contract for the aquaculture industry via SRSL.

Using SAMS' physical oceanographic model of the West Coast of Scotland (WestComs), our team can develop models of the near and far field dispersal of particulate and dissolved matter in the marine environment. With a small amount of additional programming effort New DEPOMOD can also process output from another hydrographic model and can be configured to represent different environments or species. We have been working with regulators both in Scotland and abroad to implement changes to the model to integrate New DEPOMOD into their work flow and to adapt it to their regulatory regimes.

Our team has extensive experience of physical, ecological and chemical modelling as well as sample collection and analysis supporting its own applied science and under contract for industrial partners through SRSL.
